THE town hall is currently working on a landscaping project at the Raco parkin Albir on the Costa Blanca.
Work is carried out by the members of the Et Formem (We train you) employment and training programme for residents with difficulties in entering the jobs market or those belonging to vulnerable collectives.
The 10 pupils who are pruning trees, clearing undergrowth or repairing deteriorated areas in the park previously attended a course at the Escola d’Ocupacio (Occupational school) between May and November last year where they qualified as Level 1 professional gardeners while receiving a basic wage.
Thanks to a new regional government grant, the town hall has been able to prolong the programme for a further year, enabling the participants to obtain level 2 certificates.
“We are trying to give pupils the chance to have both working and social lives,” explained Alfaz’s mayor, Vicente Arques.
