THE Plat de Calent (Warming Food) gastronomic initiative returns to Altea and the Costa Blanca on Friday, February 21. The town hall’s commerce councillor Miguel de la Hoz announced that 16 establishments in Altea and Altea la Vieja are participating in this year’s edition which continues until March 1. “More restaurants take part each year in this scheme that promotes local gastronomy with products sourced in the immediate area,” said De la Hoza, and she thanked the restaurateurs involved. The 16 restaurants are offering menus that cost between €20 and €30 and reflect the Altea area’s classic winter dishes. As in earlier editions, there will be prizes for participants who follow the Plat de Calent route, De la Hoz said. “There will be a draw for two €100 vouchers to spend in local establishments as well as wine from Borja Perez, organic products from Planeta Granel and a meal for two people at the winning restaurant,” the councillor announced. Diners will be able to vote for their favourite via the Gastroeventos app or forms available at the participating restaurants. The most popular restaurants will receive free promotion and publicity from Gastroeventos for one year while the winner will also receive advertising spots from Radio Altea.
