The play’s the thing in Costa Blanca

ALFAZ hold the 18th edition of its Mostra de Teatre cycle of plays between March 10 and 29. During the closing gala on March 29, actor-singer Nancho Novo will receive the Pi d’Honor, a statuette of the pine tree that gives the town its full name of Alfaz del Pi. Novo joins outstanding Spanish actors and actresses who have received the award in the past, including household names Concha Velasco, Jose Sacristan and Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez. Alfaz’s mayor Vicente Arques announced Nancho Novo’s award as he revealed the programme for this year’s play cycle.
“We shall be enjoying the best amateur and professional acting around and this year for the first time there will be a free theatre workshop for young people,” added Culture councillor Manuel Casado who was also present.
“This year’s Mostra will have a great deal of humour and an extraordinary bill that includes Lolita Flores, Kiti Manver, Antonio Hortelano and Magui Mira,” Casado added. All the performances will take place at 9pm in the auditorium at the Casa de Cultura. The Theatre Workshop for 13 to 16-year-olds will be held between March 9 and March 13 from 5pm until 7pm and will be given by the actress and drama teacher, Ana Pascual.
