ALTEA’S Women’s and Equality Committee met recently to plan the Costa Blanca municipality’s activities for International Women’s Day on March 8. Prior events will include a talk in the Function Room at the Social Centre on March 2 by artist Yolanda Dominguez who lectures throughout Spain on empowerment and awakening the social conscience. There will also be a cookery demonstration from Monica Alfaro of the Restaurante Elordi, with other events still in the pipeline. “Altea is planning a varied programme with the principal purpose of encouraging awareness and building a progressive society that defends equal opportunities for women and where equality can become a reality,” declared equality councillor Vicente Perez.
