TREE DAY: Getting ready to plan. Photo credit: Altea town hall
MORE than 50 people took part in Altea’s Tree Day activities on the banks of the River Algar on the Costa Blanca. The town hall’s environment department with the collaboration of Environment and Education Management (GEA)organised a tree planting session followed by a children’s workshop and lunch for all. “We spent a magnificent morning by the river celebrating Tree Day,” said environment councillor Jose Orozco. “We have learnt to recognise the trees that grow on the banks of our river, and we have also helped to regenerate them by planting more than 150 species including poplars, hackberries, oleanders and tamarisks,” Orozco said.
