Iran’s deputy health minister, Iraj Harirchi, has been infected with the coronavirus, according to the Health Ministry.
The last few days concerns have been raised regarding the spread of the virus in the country. At least 12 people have been reported dead and a minimum of 61 cases have been confirmed in the country.
In an interview with the state-run news outlet IRNA, a spokesman for the ministry said:
“Mr. Harirchi experienced weakness and flu-like symptoms on Monday before holding a news briefing and tested positive for the virus later in the day.”
As of this moment, it is unclear how he contracted the virus, but health officials said that he had previously been dealing with some patients suspected of having the coronavirus.
