Balearic Islands top destination in Spain for online boat rentals

THE Balearic Islands remain the most popular destination in Spain for Spaniards reserving boat rentals online, new figures show.
The Nautal boat hire website reported that just over half of its bookings last year were to hire boats in the Balearics.
Mallorca is the most popular of the island with boating enthusiasts, followed by Ibiza and Menorca.
Nautal also revealed that a high percentage of those reserving boats through the website are groups of between eight and 10 people.
“This makes it more economical and means they can choose a bigger boat, while at the same time socializing and enjoying company on the sea”, commented Nautal Balearic Island specialist consultant Asegura Alba Salse.
Groups of families and couples are more likely to go for catamarans, while bunches of friends more commonly opt for sailboats, she said.
