Ana Botín, Executive Chair of Banco Santander, has bought another million shares in the bank for 3.32 million euros, according to Reuters.
The latest purchase was made over two transactions, on the 27 and 28 of February 2020. She bought 500,000 shares on both days, paying 3.39 euros and 3.26 euros per share, respectively.
Spanish press attribute the recent purchase to Botín wanting to bolster confidence in the bank, following the fall in its stock, as a result of the Coronavirus impact.
In the last three months alone, Botín has purchased around 5 million shares in the bank. She is now reported to hold around 28 million shares in Banco Santander, valued at approximately 92 million euros.
