BLANCA FERRANDO (RCN Valencia) and Eduardo Reyes (RCN Denia) on Calpe’s Real Club Nautico Youth Sailing Trophy held recently on the Costa Blanca. Thanks to Calpe Bay’s good wind conditions, all six of the heats were able to go ahead over the two-day regatta, which also earned points for the Regional Trophy of the Valencian Sailing Federation (FVCV). Blanca Ferrando and Eduardo Reyes were consistent over the two days of racing, insiders said, and the Under-13 Optimist fleet is demonstrating that the region’s Sailing Federation has an encouraging reserve of young sailors. They would be more than capable of taking over from those of the Optimist A group and others who are about to move up, the same sources commented. Hugo Ferrer from the RCN Calpe was the best-classified of the local competitors, occupying fifth place. Calpe’s Tourism councillor Francisco Avargues, the FVCV’s Ana Caso and Jordi Carrasco, director of the Calpe Club Nautico, attended the presentation of the trophies, which were specially designed and made by members of the local Maite Boronat Occupational Centre.
