Taking on the Costa teams: Visiting members from last year’s trip. Credit: George Dyball
FREQUENT Fuengirola visitor Alistair Fraser, who is from Dunfermline in Scotland is bringing a large group of bowlers from his hometown to take on some Costa del Sol teams.
The bowling buddies from Headwell Bowling Club in Dunfermline will be arriving on Friday, March 6 and setting up base at Fuengirola Park Hotel until Friday, March 13.
There will be 38 in the party with 31 playing members, an increase on last year’s numbers when the club visited with 15 players. The event was a roaring success and since they all had such an enjoyable week it was decided to come again this year to the same clubs.
The team have games on Saturday, March 7 at Lauro, where there are 7 rinks, and 28 players and will start at 2 p.m. They will then go on to play their first game against the 24 players at the Mijas club on Monday, March 9, starting at 10.30 a.m.
Wednesday, March 11 will be at Miraflores club, who will provide 6 rinks, and 24 players for a 2 p.m. start. Their final match will be back at Mijas on Thursday, March 12 from 10.30 a.m.
The event is such a great display of solidarity for both the team and international bowls and I am sure they will have a great time playing and escaping the weather back home.
