LOCATION shooting of Nieva en Benidorm (It snows in Benidorm) on the Costa Blanca has now finished. The film, directed by Isabel Coixet and produced by Oscar-winner Pedro Almodovar and his brother Agustin, is set entirely in Benidorm. As shooting came to an end, Benidorm’s mayor Toni Perez, accompanied by councillors Ana Pellicer, Monica Gomez and Maite Morena, met Coixet and Augustin Almodovar at Benidorm’s Castillo. Starring Timothy Spall, Sarita Choudhury, Carmen Machi, Ana Torrent and Pedro Casablanc, the film reflects the lives of the resort’s British and Spanish communities who appear to occupy separate universes in the same town, Coixet explained. It is also an unclassifiable thriller with a theme of late-blooming love, the director added.
