In February Airbus announced that it was going through a reconstruction due to financial losses, and as a result, they would cut a total of 2,362 jobs. 630 of them would be cut in Spain and 357 in the UK.
Now Airbus confirms that the reconstruction plan will involve a total of 260 layoffs in Andalusia, 216 in Seville and 44 in the province of Cádiz. It has been specified that 100 of the layoffs are planned in San Pablo and 116 in Tablada, both in Seville, while 44 workers will be let go in El Puerto de Santa Maria north of the city of Cádiz.
The worker’s union has flatly rejected the company’s restructuring plan and is planning on mobilizing demonstrations to try to force Airbus to reconsider.
