MOHA RIDA won the eighth edition of nine-kilometre Cursa Popular race run recently in the Costa Blanca town. This was the second of the local races that accumulate points for the Circuitoa Pie Marina Alta series. Rida and Yousseff Ahatch, both from Denia Corre, dominated the race from the outset and together with the Polish runner, Tomasz Marcinek, soon left the main group behind. After shaking off Marcinek, the race was a duel between the two Denia runners, which was resolved when Rida took the lead and finished the route, much of it through Calpe’s Old Town, in 29 minutes, 6 seconds. A hatch was 14 seconds behind Rida, followed by Marcinek in third place with a time of 29 minutes, 33 seconds. Maria Isabel from Javea’s Llebeig Athletics Club was the first woman crossing the line in 33 minutes, 10 seconds.
