Costa Del Sol bar & restaurant owners ‘confused’ over Spain’s state of emergency ‘lock down’ orders

Costa Del Sol bar and restaurant owners appear to be confused over the Government’s ‘state of emergency’ orders, announced earlier today. Although bars and restaurants in several regions have received official notification to shut down from 00:00 tonight, several Costa Del Sol bar and restaurant owners claim they haven’t received any ‘official’ news.

“We haven’t heard anything official yet,” commented Wendy Bradshaw from Brads Bar on the Costa Del Sol. “We’ve just heard rumours that we may only be able to open in the evenings, so we don’t really know anything at this stage yet,” she told EuroWeekly News. “We’re going to continue to trade unless we are notified by the police or the local town hall.”

The Government of Valencia is already reported to have officially notified all entertainment and leisure establishments, including bars and restaurants of the lock down, which officially starts at 00:00 from tonight. Bars across Benidorm, Costa Blanca North and Costa Blanca South have also confirmed to EuroWeekly News that they have been ordered to close down.

These new measures come after the country’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced a state of emergency, earlier this afternoon, as reported.
