Extreme Transparency

RARE and luminous glittering on just a very few select wrists Swiss Luxury watch makers Girard-Perregaux have released a highly limited edition of just 18 examples of the Quasar Light.

Named to recall one of the brightest of all astronomical objects, the Quasar. A sapphire crystal case and movement the Quasar Lights’ movement bridges are also sapphire crystal, making the watch already skeletonised almost a full sapphire construction giving it a unique visual appearance.

Girard-Perregaux say that more than 200 hours of work and hundreds of operations with techniques perfected over two centuries went into creating this extreme level of transparency.

The watch glitters with a starry lustre when light radiates across its movement and Ruthenium barrel. Selected for its diamond like brilliance, Ruthenium is a rare platinum metal in extremely limited production.

It forms dazzling crystals that burst with sparkling light in all directions on the watch face. The arrow shape of the Aerial Neo Bridges, a Girard-Perregaux signature were inspired by the architectural marvels in the world’s greatest cities.

Finished in Swiss made sapphire the bridges reveal the smallest details of the mechanism with a light and powerful presence on the wrist.

The tourbillon cage is powered by a unidirectional automatic winding system featuring a micro-rotor made of white gold. Visible through the sapphire crystal box, the micro-rotor is engraved with an eagle, instantly recognisable hallmark of the Swiss Manufacture.

The Quasar Light is a brilliantly bold expression of the technical mastery, contemporary design and rich heritage of the Girard-Perregaux manufacture. A close to astronomical US$ 300,000 for each of just 18 www.girard-perregaux.com
