CONFIRMED: Jet2 cancel all holidays and flights to Spain’s Costa del Sol & Costa Blanca as well as the Canary Islands

Jet2 have cancelled all holidays in Spain and the Canary and Balearic islands ‘with immediate effect’.

The announcement from Jet2 comes after flights to Spain were spotted by the Euro Weekly News  returning to the UK after being turned around ‘mid-air’ on flight radar.

In a statement, Jet 2 have clearly stated : “In response to local measures introduced throughout Spain to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including the closure of bars, restaurants, shops and activities including any water sports, we have taken the decision to cancel all flights to Mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands with immediate effect.

“We know these local measures will have a significant impact on our customers’ holidays, which is why we have taken this decision.”

“We are contacting our customers who are currently in these destinations, and who are due to travel, to advise them of their options, so we urge customers not to call us.

Euro Weekly News reporter currently at Manchester airport has reported to our news desk ” It’s pandemonium here right now, thousands of people shouting and screaming at airline staff as their holidays are cancelled to Spain and the Canary Islands, kids are crying and many on phones trying to gather more information, whilst families are sitting around on the floor surrounded by suitcases, cancelled signs are displaying everywhere on the flights boards, it also looks as planes are returning on the departure boards that should be landing in Spain”

” Its rumoured other carriers are to follow but no information has come through as of yet, you can’t get near the Ryanair or Easy jet desks as they are packed with people trying to find flight availability”

More updates to follow.
