La Cala de Mijas on Spain’s Costa Del Sol Starts Shut Down – Beach Bar Just Closed

In the last few minutes, Los Morenos beach bar in La Cala De Mijas has just closed.  British resident Kay Chickie Shaw and family were asked to leave the beach bar by staff who explained that it was because of the coronavirus.  Peter Hogg, also from the UK noted that the BP Garage has closed its cafeteria and that the famous La Cala donkey has been ring-fenced with barriers.

With many popular chiringuitos along the beautiful La Cala boardwalk, this will be a big blow to the tourist business in the area. Fuengirola Council today shut all public beaches and Benalmadena has just issued a notice saying “following the recommendation from the health authorities, the Ayuntiamento of Benalmadena has been instructed to close the beaches with immediate effect”.

We can only hope that normal beach service can be resumed soon and if not, then we will just have to accept that “life’s a beach” and it is way more important to stay safe.
