Age Care Calahonda: Social contact preventing loneliness

AGE CARE CALAHONDA GO ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP THE ELDERLY ON THE COSTA DEL SOL

Lesley Berridge, Welfare Officer for Age Care Calahonda contacted EWN to let us know of the current arrangements they have made during the State of Alarm.

They currently cater to approximately 174 clients who have been contacted to make them aware that Age Care is currently closed but they have not been forgotten

These clients are to be phoned two to three times a week for shopping needs, social contact in the hope of preventing loneliness, to collect their medicines from the pharmacy and for any other emergencies.

Age Care is regularly in touch with Mijas Councillor, Bill Anderson, keeping up to date with new policies coming out from the Government and then advising our clients or phoning them personally.

They also have a WhatsApp group to keep in regular contact with each other, arranging drivers for clients specialist appointments at any of the hospitals and any other matters that may arise.
