Almueñécar firefighters put out a fire in the wilderness, at the Barranco “Los Negros” close to the River La Herradura.
Approximately two hectares of scrubland area have been engulfed by flames during a fire that took place on the afternoon of March 16. The damaged occurred in an area commonly known as
known as Barranco Los Negros near the Rio Jate in La Herradura. The origin of the fire remains under investigation although typical branch burnings are not out of the question.
Firefighters spent more than three hours trying to control the fire although they encountered some difficulties due to the heavy winds in that area.
“We have been lucky despite the wind and terrain conditions, because the affected surface of the fire surrounded various dry and subtropical agricultural fields”, explained the chief Firefighter, José Luis Varela, who partook in the operation alongside three other firefighters. The Guardia Civil of Almueñécar was also present at the fire.
