Delivery for Heroes: 200 Dinners a Day Delivered to Barcelona’s Heroic Medical Staff as a Gesture of Thanks from the City’s Takeaway Businesses

This gesture, initiated by six businesses in Barcelona, also plans to extended its delivery to people who are taking care of dependent individuals as well as to nursing homes.

Kilos of pizzas, burgers, sushi, burritos and sandwiches are delivered as a thanks to the medical professionals. These professionals are enduring the hardest work hours and bearing the greatest pressure of this coronavirus emergency.

To make their life a little bit easier, six food delivery brands have come together to deliver prepared dinners for the staff of various Barcelona hospitals. PizzaMarket, Sushifresh, Timesburg, Gonzalez&Co, L’Avocaterie and Niji are the imitators of this charitable idea. In a press release, they explain that each day they will deliver 200 meals to a different hospital for its hardworking staff members.

The van delivering food for this initiative has been nicknamed Delivery for Hero’s, in honour of the medical heroes who battle against this virus, which has already caused 767 deaths in Spain.

The delivery drivers never enter the interior of the hospitals, instead they leave the food in a “secure zone” where various medical professionals will then go to retrieve it. All delivery drivers are equipped with gloves and masks.

Furthermore, they are planning on extending this service to include entities who are taking care of dependent people, as well as nursing homes. Their aim is to make a dinner time a little bit more light-hearted and fun for the professionals who must take care of the most vulnerable groups in our society.
