Mother Dies from Coronavirus Six Days After Giving Birth Without Seeing Newborn Son

A new mother died in hospital six days after giving birth to her son on April 8.

Fozia Hanif, who had tested positive for Covid-19, died at Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital.

The 29-year-old’s condition reportedly got worse following the birth of her little boy, who she never got to see in person, only in photographs because of the risk of contagion.

The baby is still in hospital and has tested negative for coronavirus.

Ms Hanif’s husband Wajid and her father were allowed to see the new mum before her ventilator was swtiched off, wearing protective equipment.

Her devastated family are grieiving the loss of a “little star”.
