DESPITE uncertainty regarding this year’s summer season, work is going ahead to repair last January’s storm damage. Calpe Town Hall is preparing to restore the beachfront promenades that were devastated by Storm Gloria and has put out to tender a €48,000 contract to repave the Paseo on Playa la Fossa. The chosen firm will first have to tear up the deteriorated concrete before resurfacing the promenade within a period of three weeks, municipal sources revealed. Repairs to the promenade’s retaining walls are the responsibility of Costas, Spain’s coastal authority but Calpe Town Hall’s Beach’s department hopes that this can be carried out before the summer.
