ANA SALA, Calpe’s mayor held one of her fortnightly question-and-answer sessions with the public via the social media.
Logically, in a town where so many residents depend on the hospitality trade for their income, Calpe residents were anxious to know when bars and restaurants would reopen.
“It’s going to be a very hard year.  We still don’t know the conditions for opening these businesses,” Sala warned.
The mayor also recommended that the bar and café-owners waited before installing protective screens. “Don’t spend money on measures when we still don’t know what these will be.”
Answering queries regarding Covid-free certificates, Sala said that the town hall would be working on these with input from shop-owners and the hotel and catering trade.

She also confirmed that the tax on terrace tables would be waived this year and would be returned to those who had already paid.
