FRENCH health officials say there have been 242 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours which is a major drop in its daily toll as the government prepares to see how it may ease a national lockdown that has been in place since March.
The country’s total death toll from the virus climbed to: 22,856
The deaths in hospitals, 152, was the lowest daily toll in five weeks, while 90 people died in nursing and care homes.
Since the start of the pandemic, 87,985 people have been hospitalised and 44,903 have returned home.
