Contractor’s boats will clean surface waters throughout the day, credit: Rincon de la Victoria town hall
AS summer approaches Rincon de la Victoria has reactivated the tender to clean the surface waters along its coastline. The contract will require boats to locate and remove floating and semi-submerged rubbish, litter, plastics, dead fish and jellyfish. The contractor’s boats will also be expected to skim off and deal with sea foam, said the town hall’s Environment councillor Sergio Diaz. This service will be carried out from June 15 until September 15, from Monday to Sunday between 10am and 6pm, from the La Cala del Moral beaches as far as Los Rubios. “Cleaning the water is essential for the efficient running of the beaches as well as the health and safety of swimmers, especially in the present circumstances,” said the town hall’s Environment councillor Sergio Diaz. Rincon de la Victoria’s mayor Francisco Salado stressed the local administration’s efforts to return to normal by setting in motion basic services like cleaning the seashore. Like Dias, Salada pointed out that the country was living through exceptional times: “We have to prepare for the coming months by ensuring that everything is functioning correctly.”
