The Guardia Civil have rescued an individual in the Sierra de Peñas Blancas in Estepona after he had disappeared from his home the previous day.

THE events took place on May 1 when a patrol car in the Jubrique and Genalguacil area, the town bordering Estepona, observed an individual who was walking along the road that goes up to Peñas Blancas which is at 1,300 metres of altitude.

According to the Guardia Civil, they located the young man who said he had been lost since the day before, when he had left his home for a walk and became disorientated and lost in the area.

The individual had spent the whole night outdoors and very low temperatures and found himself to be dehydrated, hypothermic and sun burnt.

The Guardia Civil attended to the young man and proceeded to give him first aid, providing him with water and a thermal blanket to warm him up.

After being identified the officers verified that his relatives filed a complaint about his disappearance at the Estepona National Police Station. After contacting his relatives, they took the young man back to his home.
