Sailors Missing and Feared Dead as Iranian Navy Accidentally Launches Missile Strike on one of its Own Ships

A tragic mistake by an Iranian Navy destroyer has caused the deaths of dozens of sailors as it turned on one of its ships.

DOZENS of soldiers are feared dead after the Iranian Navy opened fire at one of its own ships by accident. The ‘friendly fire’ is said to have caused the vessel known as Konarak to capsize yesterday near the port of Jask in Hormozgan Province, Iran.

At least one person has been confirmed dead, while several are injured, an unconfirmed number of 40 are said to be missing. The ship that opened fire in the Gulf of Oman was a destroyer, according to reports, and caused extensive damage. State-run news agency ISNA claimed that it accidentally fired a C-802 Noor missile during a military exercise.
