A tragic mistake by an Iranian Navy destroyer has caused the deaths of dozens of sailors as it turned on one of its ships.

DOZENS of soldiers are feared dead after the Iranian Navy opened fire at one of its own ships by accident. The ‘friendly fire’ is said to have caused the vessel known as Konarak to capsize yesterday near the port of Jask in Hormozgan Province, Iran.

At least one person has been confirmed dead, while several are injured, an unconfirmed number of 40 are said to be missing. The ship that opened fire in the Gulf of Oman was a destroyer, according to reports, and caused extensive damage.
