IT looks like the EU is coming through for Spain at last as it releases over a billion euros in aid that will give a much-needed boost to the tourist industry both on the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca. Insiders have revealed that if the current rates of infection in Spain continue to drop there may be a revitalisation of the sector quicker than first thought. The implementation of this mechanism (baptised SURE), which Spain asked to have ready on June 1, has received the green light from Brussels this morning. With both regions in Phase 1 of the lockdown, the money couldn’t have come at a better time. France and Italy so far have not asked for any money but analysts predict they soon will have to, the UK has signalled the end to their system and has warned employees that they cannot pay a percentage of salaries forever. #spain #costadelsol #costablanca
