VELEZ-MALAGA’S Social Council met recently to start working on ways to alleviate the effects of Covid-19.
Velez-Malaga’s mayor Antonio Moreno Ferrer explained that he had called the meeting in order to involve the local population in plans to help the town emerge from the Covid-19 crisis.
“This is without doubt the moment to come together in Velez-Malaga so that no-one is left behind,” declared Moreno who was accompanied by councillor Juan Garcia.
The objectives of the Social Council, which Moreno Ferrer presides, are to collaborate with the local government and actively contribute to the running of Velez-Malaga with ideas and solutions.
He explained that this body would join spokespersons for political parties on the local council and the Social Economic Technical Committee who are currently analysing proposals for social unity and the reactivation of the local economy.
“With this meeting, the local government wishes to contribute to creating a package of specific measures, based on citizens’ proposals, to help strengthen local businesses, tourism and social cohesion so that normal activities are resumed as soon as possible,” Moreno Ferrer declared.
