Preparations are well underway for the grand opening of Torrevieja’s Floating Museums following an investment of €37,000.

A ‘comprehensive refurbishment’ of signs, posters and paintings throughout the museum esplanade, as well as the installation of hygienic and sanitary measures, were unveiled by town mayor, Eduardo Dolon, this week.

All of the posters, explaining rules and timetables, and the exhibition pieces at the Floating Museums, are labelled in Spanish and English, with a new feature being the installation of a photocall in the entrance area of the submarine.

Likewise, all the sunshades have been replaced by the waiting areas for the Patrol boat, the S-61 Submarine ‘Dolphin,’ as well as at the school and rest area.
And for the first time the museum has a total of 21 boats of all types – navy, fishing and sporting – on display for visits.

The mayor said the remodelling was much-needed after “several years without maintenance” and added the Floating Museums will be open within the next fortnight, from 9.30am to 2pm.
