The institution that is Greggs will reopen 800 of their stores across the country for take away from Thursday

FURTHER great news for the sausage roll seekers is that the remaining 1,000 stores should be open by early July.

For the steak slice lovers in Scotland, you can expect stores to reopen in Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as outlets in Airdrie, Barrhead, Bathgate, Clydebank, Cumbernauld, Falkirk, Motherwell and Paisley.

One Scottish potential customer said: “Aye it’s gonna be brilliant, moan ra sausage rolls!”

Greggs are expecting trade to be brisk, but are under no illusions that it won’t be an uphill climb, with the safety precautions in place, there will obviously be a slowdown in the service, social distancing and lower customer volume will make it a bit harder than it could be after three months of closure.

The company could have stayed open for take away and delivery during lockdown but made the decision not to saying they felt the safety of their employees could have been compromised.

I for one am sad that I can’t be there for a Scotch pie and a sausage roll!
