THE Mayor of Velez-Malaga chaired a discussion with local authorities, associations and police forces on Monday 29, in order to guarantee that the summer period passes with total normality and in complete safety for residents and visitors.
Moreno Ferrer explained that during the meeting “various security measures have been agreed on public roads as well as the reinforcement of security in those areas with the highest tourist influx in the municipality, mainly in the towns of Velez-Malaga and Torre del Mar”.
Jesús Pérez Atencia highlighted that “the municipality of Velez-Malaga has become in recent years one of the most popular destinations in tourism and we must prioritise security especially this atypical summer due to the health crisis we are experiencing.” “From the Department of Beaches we have worked to make our coastline a safe environment, being the first to obtain the Safe Tourism certificate in Spain,” added Pérez Atencia.
The local council will improve the police cooperation for preventive controls in areas of leisure and tourism where concentrations of people can gather without respecting the hygienic-sanitary measures and safety distance.
