Ministry of Health Confirms 4 Positive COVID Cases Amongst Immigrants Who Arrived in Spain’s Costa Blanca on Sunday

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that four of the immigrants who arrived in Costa Blanca’s Cartagena on a paddle boat have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The immigrants will be taken to the Santa Lucia de Cartagena Hospital whilst eight other individuals who were in contact with them will also be forced to stay in quarantine.

Over the weekend, the Salvamiento Maritimo and Guardia Civil have jointly intercepted 10 different vessels and rescued 108 irregular immigrants near the Costa Blanca area.

The immigrants are of Algerian nationality and there were five women and three minors on board. All incoming immigrants are subjected to COVID-19 testes and medical tests which will help determine their health and whether they show any symptoms.
