THERE is a packed programme of cultural and events this summer in the Costa Almeria capital, although the original plans have been modified due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
City Mayor Ramon Fernandez-Pacheco explained the Cooltural Fest festival has become Cooltural Go!, which features more than 40 cultural and musical dates between the beginning of July and mid-September.
Among the big name acts are chart-topping Spanish bands Miss Caffeina and Amaral.
This year’s concerts will be staged in the Plaza Vieja and in the remodelled La Hoya park at the foot of the La Alcazaba fortification.
“If Almeria is Culture, as our slogan says, so it will also be in the coming months, although circumstances force us to do things differently”, the Mayor commented at Monday’s presentation
The format will be “more intimate and inclusive” this year, according to the city council.
Maximum audience numbers will be limited, and there will be strict compliance with health and safety regulations. Seats will be spaced well apart, hydro-alcoholic gel will be made available and disinfection teams will be on hand.
As well as the Cooltural Go! events, Almeria city council’s Culture department is organising its own summer programme, with comedy, classical music, rock, flamenco and more.
