THE Costa Blanca’s tourism sector continues to demonstrate that it is open for business and proved its point in Benidorm. Hoteliers’ association Hosbec, together with the Visit Benidorm tourist board and Benidorm town hall, organised the Benidorm Opening Tour, visiting some of the resort’s classic hotels – and one newcomer – that are catering to tourists again. Bars are open, restaurants are open, the well-controlled beaches are open and 71 of the resort’s hotels that are currently offering 23,000 beds are already looking ahead to 2021. The remainder will re-open as demand increases, said Hosbec president Toni Mayor, who said that the association expected that between 85 and 90 per cent of Valencian Community hotels would be open by August “especially in sun and sand destinations. “Hope and belief are the watchwords for the 2020 tourist season,” said Benidorm’s mayor Toni Perez. “We came safely through the pandemic and now we are offering maximum safety.”
