MORE SAFETY: Streetlighting needed at Altea la Vieja access Photo credit: Altea town hall
ALTEA’S Infrastructures department wants to take over the street lighting at the crossroads to Altea la Vieja. Officially this is the responsibility of roads’ authority Carreteras, said Infrastructures councillor Diego Zaragozi, who explained that the section between the AP-7 bridge and Villa Gadea has remained in darkness since the motorway reverted to the State on January 1. “The town hall intends to re-establish and pay for the streetlighting but to do that, Carreteras needs to transfer ownership to the municipality,” Zaragozi said. Above all, restoring streetlights on this section of road would provide more safety at the crossing to Altea la Vieja, he pointed out. “We are going through the necessary procedures, but this doesn’t depend on the local Administration and are waiting for the transfer to go through.”
