REPRESENTATIVES of local animal protection societies recently visited Javea town hall to discuss the municipality’s cat colonies. Mayor Jose Chulvi and Services councillor Kika Mata explained that as well as the €3,700 allocation from the provincial council, the Diputacion, the town hall was contributing €7,000 to the sterilisation programme carried out with the participation of authorised vets. Both the town hall and the Apasa, Feral Cat and Catland associations have agreed to combine their efforts to find a solution for a situation that was difficult for the cats but also created health problems for the local population, Chulvi said.
