THE family of Altea-born Juan Navarro Ramon (1903-1989) donated one of his works to Alfaz town hall. The untitled oil painting, which is valued at €3,000, is now on display at the Casa de Cultura in the centre of Alfaz. Navarro Ramon was a friend and contemporary of Picasso and his paintings were shown in the Spanish pavilion during the Paris World Fair in 1937. The artist emigrated to France in 1938 and returned to Spain in 1941 spending his time between Madrid, Barcelona and Altea, eventually moving to Sitges (Barcelona) where he died in 1989.
