FLOODLIT: Altea town hall went green against food waste Photo credit: Altea town hall
ALTEA town hall was floodlit in green on September 29 between 8pm and 11pm. The colour was deliberately chosen to coincide with the UN’s Stop Food Waste Week. “We wanted to remind people about the importance of fighting waste and reducing the tons of food that this country throws away each year,” said Altea’s Citizens’ Participation councillor Mari Lavios. Valencia and Zaragoza city halls have also joined the initiative that has official support and is backed by Spain’s food production and distribution industries and coordinated by the AECOC association which represents more than 30,000 companies.
