Pelosi concerned over UK vaccine approval

PELOSI concerned over UK vaccine approval, as she fears UK system is not on par with the “very stringent rules” US.

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, came under some scrutiny this week. Sources fear that Pelosi’s comments are motivated by concern that President Trump may hastily embrace a British vaccine for political gain ahead of the November elections.

As reported by The Guarian, Pelosi said: “My concern is that the UK’s system for that kind of judgment is not on par with ours. So if Boris Johnson decides he’s going to approve a drug and this president embraces that, that’s the concern I have.”

AstraZeneca/Oxford University are currently at phase 3 of their vaccine trials, but their progress was halted by an illness in one of the participants. Despite the fact that the trials have resumed elsewhere, they are still halted in the US.

Peloski remarked: “We have very stringent rules about the Food and Drug Administration here about clinical trials, timing, number of people etc, so that when a drug is approved by the FDA that it’s safe and efficacious, then it has the trust of the American people.”
