NEW measures for Madrid: social gatherings, cinemas and hotels

NEW measures for Madrid: updated restrictions on social gatherings, cinemas and hotels.

The minister for Health, Enrique Ruiz Escudero has announced new measures, coming into effect on Saturday, October 24, to replace the current state of alarm. The new regulations will cover general measures for the entire region and separate restrictions for higher risk areas.

Among the measures that affect the entire community is the general limitation of social gatherings, both in the public and private areas, between midnight and 6am.

For bars and restaurants, the maximum capacity allowed inside is 50 per cent while on outside terraces it is a maximum of 75 per cent. Customers are not permitted to sit at the bar. According to the new measures, bars must close at midnight instead of 11pm.

Neither shops nor hotels may open before 6am throughout the Community, and cinemas and theaters must also reduce their capacity by half.

Regarding the basic health areas, entry and exit will remain restricted as per the rules applied on September 21. The same exceptions e.g. work, medical needs etc. still apply. They will come into effect at 0.00 next Monday.
