Former president of El Cortes Inglés launches new store

FORMER president of El Cortes Inglés launches new WOW store to compete with Primark.

Dimas Gimeno, the former president of El Corte Inglés, has embarked on a new project by creating Wow, a store to rival retail giant Primark. Located at the very fashionable number 18 Gran Vía in Madrid, the superstore will offer everything from fashion to hospitality, through household and leisure items.

Work has already begun on the new site on one of Madrid’s most popular streets, which measures more than 5,500 square meters. These works are expected to be completed during the month of April 2021 and, subsequently, the opening date will be announced, as reported by 20 minutos.

Gimeno has devised a plan for this new business that consists of offering the public innovative and exclusive products, in particular promoting digital Spanish brands which currently don’t have physical stores.

Gimeno insists that this store is just the beginning, with plans already in place to expand the brand throughout the country.

The brand has already secured funding of €2.8 million from US firm FJ Labs and expects to launch a new round of marketing before the end of the year to attract even more backers.
