Mum and boyfriend throw baby ‘into a river in plastic bag’

MUM and boyfriend are charged with killing their baby and throwing it ‘into a river in a plastic bag’

Tatiana Pupishina, 24, and her partner Yevgeniy Gavrilov, 29, are accused of beating seven-month-old Nikita to death at their home in the city of Chelyabinsk, south-central Russia on October 17.

Local reports say that a drunk Gavrilov fell on the baby’s crib, and when the baby wouldn’t stop crying he flew into a drunken rage and beat little Nikita on the head several times.

Local Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Shyshkov claimed: “The suspects hit the boy on the head numerous times causing his death then threw the body into the Miass river.”

It is alleged that the couple kept the baby’s body in the apartment for the next three days, before getting rid of it by dumping him in a near-by river in a plastic bag.

Once they had disposed of the child, Pupishina reported him missing to local police; however, detectives claim that during an interview they quickly discovered she had made up the story. Nikita’s body was recovered on Friday, October 23.

Pupishina and Gavrilov were charged with murder of a minor and placed into custody.
