FUGITIVE suspect in triple murder had been arrested
Anthony Russell, accused of committing three murders in Coventry, has been arrested.
Police caught up with Russell after a six-day manhunt on Friday, October 30 in a Staffordshire village. Officers reported that the fugitive was found in a red Ford C-Max – stolen in a car-jacking in Leamington Spa on Wednesday afternoon – in a country lane in Rolleston-on-Dove at around 4am.
West Midlands Police launched a manhunt for Russel after the bodies of mother and son, Julie and David Williams were found murdered on Sunday, October 25 and Tuesday, October 27. Two days later, the body of missing Leamington woman Nichola McGregor was discovered on Newbold Comyn.
Police considered Russell “extremely dangerous” and warned members of the public not to approach him if spotted. He was last caught on CCTV camera three days ago in the town of Leamington Spa.
A 36-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder has been bailed with conditions.
Russell has links to Coventry as well as Warwickshire and he sometimes sleeps rough and is a drug user.
