Breaking News – Actor Sir Sean Connery dies aged 90

Beloved Scottish actor, Sean Connery, has died at the age of 90.

Connery was the first ever actor to portray the character James Bond, starring in seven Bond films in total and going on to a substantial and illustrious film career.

Sean Connery James BondThe Bond actor won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, and three Golden Globes, throughout his career and starred in a range of other successful films including The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

His Oscar win finally came for Best Supporting Actor in 1988 for his role in The Untouchables.

In August he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Connery grew up in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh and left school with no qualification, initially working as a milkman, brick layer and coffin polisher throughout his early adult life.

Connery, a keen footballer, was offered a £25-per-week footballing job at Manchester United however, after being exposed to acting while working at a local theatre, Connery decided that acting was his preferred path.

Sir Sean ConneryHis first acting role was in a BBC production of Blood Money and just a year later Connery was in Hollywood starring alongside Lana Turner in Another Time, Another Place.

After this his acting career truly took off and he is consider to be, not only be the first but the best actor have portrayed the role of James Bond in the long running franchise.

Sir Sean began life in a Scottish tenement and ended it in a luxury Villa in Greece, sharing a helicopter pad with the King of the Netherlands.

He always despised the ostentatious Hollywood life and preferred to play golf in Spain, Portugal and the Caribbean, with his second wife, Micheline Roqubrune.

Connery was a much beloved figure and his contribution to film will never be forget.
