A man was seen ‘running around with a knife’ after a midnight car crash

The 24-year-old man was arrested shortly after midnight on October 31 on a quiet residential street in Walton, Merseyside. Merseyside Police confirmed on Monday, November 2 that the man was taken into custody after he was seen brandishing a blade following a car crash. Police have confirmed he was charged with assault, dangerous driving, and possession of a weapon.

A witness to the scene told The Echo they saw a man “running around with a knife” after a “car chase”.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said: “We had reports two drivers had an altercation following a road traffic collision on Bodmin Road in Walton after just after midnight on Saturday, October 31.

“We arrested a 24 year-old man on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, common assault and possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

“He has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.”
