Mum ‘sedates then kills her twin seven-year-old daughters’

MUM ‘sedates then kills her twin seven-year-old daughters in murder-suicide gun rampage during custody battle’.

Police were called to a home in Sudden Valley, Washington, on Saturday, October 24 when a neighbour reported finding the mum and her daughters. Autopsy results confirmed that Michelle Boudreau Deegan, 55, gave her twin daughters “a large amount of sedatives” before shooting them, then turning the gun on herself.

Ms. Boudreau had reportedly been going through a “horrific custody battle”; she and her estranged husband had been given joint custody of the girls on October 20, and this “appears to have been the precipitating event that led to her decision”, sheriffs confirmed.

Whatcom sheriffs said the office “has ruled out any involvement from Ms. Boudreau’s estranged husband in the incident.

The office added that “evidence from the scene also indicates that Ms. Boudreau planned this event over the course of several days prior to the discovery of the bodies.

“She clearly stated her suicidal intentions and that she would never leave her daughters alone without her.”

A friend of Ms. Boudreau wrote on Facebook:

“This was a mental health tragedy, not a terrible person.”
