ARDALES suspends classes after an overflow of the Turón River due to flooding forces emergency services to intervene in various parts of the municipality.

The decision was made on Thursday, November 5, after the flooding cut off several residents of the area.

Emergencias 112 of Ardales, a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, has been working with machinery to clean the area to successfully re-establish the connection with the districts that have been cut off by the overflow of the El Perro stream, where 10 families reside in total.

The mayor of Ardales, Juan Alberto Naranjo, explained to SUR why classes were suspended, “there has already been rainfall that exceeds 150 litres,” before adding, “we continue working to communicate to the neighbours who have remained on the other side of the river.”

There was an orange warning in place until 12 noon, meaning the school classes are set to be closed for the day.

According to Naranjo: “The streams are overflowing, and we have had to cut off some entrances to the municipality.”
