THE mayor of Velilla de San Antonio, a small town located in the Madrid Metropolitan Area, in the Community of Madrid, calls for three days of mourning after a man was beaten to death by a group of youngsters.

The 39-year-old man died in hospital from very serious injuries caused by a group of youngsters who beat him up on Friday, November 13, and who have created panic with robberies and a string of attacks by the municipality.

According to local media, the residents of Velilla themselves demonstrated in the town square, fed up with the fear and insecurity that exists in the place due to a group of violent youngsters, after learning that the man died two days later.

The mayor of Velilla declared three days of mourning on November 16, 17 and 18, stating: “During those days, all recreational events organised by the Velilla de San Antonio City Council will be suspended and the official flags will be flown at half-mast in all municipal buildings. The Velilla de San Antonio City Council conveys its condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased.”
