AN ambulance theft in Wales left a paramedic crew stranded. A further vehicle had to be sent to rescue the stranded paramedics.

An extremely reckless stunt was reported yesterday by the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust (WAST), when an ambulance was stolen whilst the paramedics were treating a patient inside a house. The incident occurred in Flintshire, north-east Wales.

The Express reported that “The WAST confirmed North Wales Police are investigating the incident, with forensic investigators sent to scour the stolen ambulance for clues. The police service is encouraging anyone with information on the theft to get in touch.” It has not been confirmed if the stolen ambulance was damaged or if medical equipment was missing when the vehicle was found.

People were outraged at the theft and aired their views on social media. On person commented that “The ambulance staff are working so hard in challenging times and we should be supporting them, not stealing the vehicle that could save your life.” And another said “What’s wrong with people? How in anyone’s mind can this be okay?”

With the COVID-19 pandemic increasing around the world, medical resources and people are being pushed to the limit. The theft of the ambulance is not only example of people disrespecting the NHS and health services around the world. Recently personal protective equipment, PPE, worth around $1 million was stolen in the United States.
